Historical Society
It all began in the winter of 1983 with a conversation between friends Mike DeGrow and Larry Holley, a former mayor of Eaton Rapids. Their conversation was about Miller Ice Cream, which was started in Eaton Rapids in 1896, and had recently been sold to a Bay City company, and was no longer produced here. The historic Miller house had been abandoned for years, the property neglected, and was in danger of being destroyed, and so these two decided that something needed to be done to preserve this unique part of Eaton Rapids’ history.
The Eaton Rapids Historical Society’s goal is to raise public awareness and to educate people about the history of the area.

Farmer’s Markets
When was the last time we stopped to taste an apple, not just eat it, but taste it? Ever tried an ear of corn that was just picked? If happiness is a bowl of cherries then all this must be heaven.
Eaton Rapids hosts a wonderful Farmers Market called the Eaton Rapids Community Market located on Hall Street, in the DDA’s Grass Lot in the heart of the downtown. It operates June 15 – September every Wednesday from 3:00pm – 6:00pm and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – Noon.
