Will hold a regular meeting of the Council of Governments on July 18, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.

The City of Eaton Rapids will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as hand signers for the hearing impaired, audio tapes of printed materials being considered at the meeting, to individuals with disabilities at the meeting (and/or hearing) upon two weeks notice to the City of Eaton Rapids. Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Mill Pointe Park Pavilion

We were honored to have several distinguished speakers joining us for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of Mill Pointe Park Pavilion today: 

  • Pamela Colestock/Mayor, City of Eaton Rapids 
  • Barbara Rogers/County Commissioner, speaking on behalf of the Eaton County Board of Commissioners. 
  • Terrance Augustine/County Commissioner, representing the Eaton County Parks Work Group. 
  • Don Garchow, President of the Eaton Rapids Area Chamber. 

Thanks to a generous grant received by the City of Eaton Rapids from the Eaton County Community Parks Grant, Mill Pointe Park now features a pavilion, picnic tables, grills, and trash containers, enhancing our community’s recreational opportunities. Additionally, a cubic feet per second (CFS) water gauge has been installed down river. This vital tool helps monitor the water levels, ensuring safe conditions for those planning to launch tubes, kayaks, or canoes. 

Mill Pointe Park improvements are part of the city 5-Year Parks and Recreation Plan, which aims to create beautiful and functional spaces for our residents to enjoy. The new amenities will provide a fantastic location for family gatherings, picnics, and outdoor activities. 

We sincerely thank Eaton County for their generous grant and support. The funding is instrumental in advancing this project, and we appreciate the trust and investment in our vision. Their contribution empowers us to make meaningful progress and achieve our goals. Also, a special thank you to all in attendance today. 

Notice of Board of Review Meeting

Location: Eaton Rapids City Hall, 200 S Main St., 2nd Floor

Purpose: This meeting allows the board of review to act on very specific items relating to the assessment roll;

The Correction of qualified errors.

The board may review a denial by the assessor of a qualified agricultural property exemption for the current year if the exemption was not in existence for the previous year.

The board may also grant a qualified agricultural exemption if there has not been a previous denial.

The board may also make limited changes in regards to the uncapping of a taxable. See PA 23 of 2005. Uncapping error can be corrected for current and 3 years prior.

The board may also hear an appeal for a Poverty Exemption.

This list is a summary of changes the board is allowed to make and does not include all changes allowed. For a more detailed explanation see Michigan State Tax Commission Bulletin #6 of 2018.
